# EDCOM II classroom construction dashboard data, cleaned (version 1.1)

Data behind the NASH Reviewer series on classroom supply and demand. It was extracted from the EDCOM II
classroom construction dashboard (a Tableau workbook with the *School Level Classroom Construction* and
*LGU Breakdown* dashboards), checked and cleaned. It joins DepEd's 2023 classroom shortage, the School Building
Program 2026 masterlist, SY 2024-25 enrollment and class shifts, 2023 school facilities and 2022 school
coordinates, school by school. NASH Reviewer is not affiliated with EDCOM II or the Department of Education.

Missing values are empty cells in the CSV files. Text codes (PSGC) keep their leading zeros in Parquet, Stata
and SPSS; read them as text from CSV. The data dictionary explains every column, and `cleaning_log.csv.gz` lists
every value the cleaning changed. `CHECKSUMS.sha256` holds a SHA-256 fingerprint for each file.

## Notes

- The sources span several years: coordinates 2022, classroom shortage and facilities 2023, enrollment SY 2024-25,
  allocations 2026. Learners per classroom divide SY 2024-25 learners by 2023 rooms.
- Sulu is in Region IX in every table (`deped_region` and `psa_region`): its schools division moved from MBHTE-BARMM
  to DepEd Region IX on 20 October 2026. The source label is kept in `region_source`.
- 103 SBP lines are exact copies of an earlier line (`duplicate_of_line`), all PSIP III. They are kept; drop them
  for a sensitivity check.
- School ID is the current ID; 360 schools received a new ID after 2023 (`school_id_crosswalk`).

## Changes in version 1.1 (28 October 2026)

- The City of Manila is typed as a city (`lgu_type`) in `schools` and `lgu_summary`, as the PSGC and the SBP
  masterlist type it; DepEd's shortage table types all its schools "Municipality".
- Each school's `lgu_type` and `lgu_income_class` take its city's or municipality's value (the most common among its
  schools); some rows in DepEd's shortage table gave a city school "Municipality" or another income class.
- Eleven `congressional_district` labels that differed only in case ("Lanao Del Sur" and "Lanao del Sur")
  take their most common spelling, in `shortages_2023` and `schools`.
- 416 entries were added to the cleaning log (rules `lgu_class_harmonized` and `district_case_standardised`). No
  other value changed. Version 1 stays online at https://data.nash.com.ph/edcom-classroom-data/v1/README.md.
